Frequently asked questions
1. How much do I need to invest?
Every relationship is unique. Generally, retirees have at least $2 million in investable assets. Clients who are still building wealth often have at least $1 million in investable assets or are on a clear path toward that level.
2. Do I have to live in Florida?
No. While our office is located in St. Petersburg, Florida we work with clients throughout the United States
3. How often will we meet?
At a minimum, we meet with every client annually to review portfolio performance and update their wealth plan. Some clients choose to meet more frequently, and we encourage additional meetings whenever life circumstances or financial goals change.
4. Who manages my investments?
Dave Henwood and Miles Green are directly involved in managing client portfolios through RBC’s Portfolio Focus program. Dave leads the management of fixed income portfolios, while Miles leads the management of equity portfolios. Investment decisions are guided by your financial plan and our disciplined investment philosophy.
5. How do you approach taxes?
Tax considerations are incorporated throughout our investment process. We consider long-term holding periods, tax-loss opportunities, taxable versus other bonds and other strategies designed to support your long-term goals. We also coordinate with your tax advisor when appropriate.
6. What happens if I already own appreciated investments?
We evaluate every situation individually and seek thoughtful, tax-aware solutions that support your long-term financial goals.
7. Who is your ideal client?
We work with successful individuals and families who value disciplined investment management, thoughtful financial planning and long-term relationships. Our clients want to understand the important financial decisions affecting their future, while trusting us to manage the day-to-day complexity.
8. How do you approach wealth planning?
Planning is the foundation of every client relationship. We begin by understanding your goals, assets, spending, retirement income, and long-term objectives. Your financial plan helps guide your investment strategy and evolves as your life changes.
9. What resources are available for larger client relationships?
Qualifying clients may have access to additional planning resources and specialized services available through RBC Echelon™, including resources designed for the unique needs of ultra-high-net-worth families.
10. What should I expect during our first meeting?
Our first conversation is about you—not your investments. We'll discuss your goals, priorities, current financial picture and any questions you may have. It's an opportunity for both of us to determine whether Green & Henwood is the right long-term fit.
11. How are you generally compensated?
We charge a transparent advisory fee based on the value and mix of the assets we manage for your household, with lower rates as your assets increase. The fee is charged quarterly. It covers investment management, wealth planning, ongoing advice, routine account services, and access to estate planning services and insurance specialists – with no additional charges from our team.
